Chandler Wellness Care: Women’s History Month and Sexual Health

The CDC ( describes sexual health as LGBT issues, safe sex, birth control, pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infection, HIV, AIDS, pregnancy and reproductive health. It’s so broad!

The great Wikipedia and the Mayo Clinic state: The first condom predates the 15th century in Asia. The first IUD in 1900s. Viagra patented in 1996. But sorry, no oral medication for female sexual dysfunction just yet (not for the lack of trying).

After babies, as we age, and other pivotal points in our life; our sexual health can mean different things. With it being Women’s History Month, we chose to focus on the girls. (Not those girls, just the ladies.)

A healthy sex life can have many interpretations (is it qua ntity, quality, person, type???) One thing is for sure, it starts with good physical and mental health as women. These are integral components. A healthy pelvis is important. As women I hope we are at the point, we too understand that we are sexual beings. Please do not be afraid to discuss issues with your mate or doctor. Often times we can help with changes like dryness, stimulation, pelvic, and mental health issues. From yeast infection, chronic bacterial vaginoses, and menopausal symptoms – I can use remedies like hormonal creams, hormone replacement, boric acid, osteopathic manipulation, and the infamous “scream cream.”

Ladies, do not worry…I don’t bite. Have fun! Let it out.
