Philadelphia & Dating
After you have a baby, it is so important to tend to your relationship. It is important to keep dating each other and make time for each other. I honestly think I would go crazy if it weren't for our date nights. Sometimes we schedule them, and other times we are spontaneous. I need that time away from my child. I need that time to spend with my significant other without a child screaming or puking, and without diapers to change!
Even if you are pregnant, planning to be, or just in a relationship it’s important to take care of your relationship. Doula life can be a little crazy when it comes to planning things. So whenever I am not on call I love to cherish that time with my fiance. We LOVE the city of Philadelphia and enjoy going on dates there. Here are some of my favorite date spots. I have broken it into three categories: nice sit down dinner spots, casual dates, and seasonal dates.
Nice sit down dinners:
This restaurant is beautiful! It has an amazing view and is considered to be Philadelphia's most romantic restaurant. My fiance took me here on our first "real" date, and it was like something out of a movie. If you want to dress up and feel elegant, this is the place to do it!
Life isn't complete without Italian food! YUM! And this restaurant is romantic as well! The walls have beautiful exposed brick, the lighting is dim and the food is divine! When I went here, I felt as if the environment was slightly more casual then at waterworks, so I didn't wear heels-haha. This is by far one of my favorite Italian restaurants!
I have loved this restaurant since I was about ten! This establishment has grown a lot through the years. If you like things fried and covered in cheese then this is the spot for you! Their menu adds a creative and elegant spin to classic soul food meals. And don't forget to try the famous sweet tea!
I went here as a teenager and LOVED it. If you are a fan of homemade icecream, then this place will not disappoint you. Do keep in mind, this is a smaller place and is cash only! When I went, I had the vanilla bean ice cream topped with strawberries-it was divine!
This is a little self explanatory. The art museum is a ton of fun, but I’m artsy, so I am biased. On the first Sunday of the month you can enter for a “suggested donation”, but keep in mind it fills up fast, so get there early to avoid long lines! The restaurant, Water Works, is very close by, so you could do a day at the museum followed by a romantic dinner at waterworks.
First friday is also a little on the artsy side but it is SO fun. On the first Friday of every month the art galleries in Old City open their doors and street vendors line the sidewalks. You can check out what some of the local artists and crafty people are doing, then grab dinner at a local bar or restaurant.
Technically you can go here at anytime during the year, but it is extra fun during Halloween! I actually haven’t gone here in a while, but I do remember it being a lot of fun and I did jump a few times. This is definitely not for the easily spooked.
The river rink is an outdoor ice skating rink, so it’s only open when it’s cold out. I do not like the cold, but honestly you barely notice while ice skating! The view is great as this rink is located just on the waterfront underneath the Ben Franklin Bridge.
These are just a few of my favorite Philadelphia date nights! I actually had to condense this list a lot because my original list was ridiculously long. Do any of our friends out there have any awesome places that they would like to share?
