Welcome Lori!

I am so excited to be the newest member to the Loving Birth Services team. My husband and I have been married for 3 years and we have an amazing 2 year old son. Being a mom to my energetic toddler keeps me on my toes. We love to go swimming, take walks in the neighborhood, and play choo-choo trains.

I have been certified through a wonderful program, Birth Arts International. The program prepares it's students to assist and support all different parenting styles. This is immensely important to me. Just a few of the benefits of having a postpartum doula are:

•quicker birth recovery

•higher breastfeeding success rate

•less stress and anxiety

•less incidence in postpartum mood disorders and lastly

•an overall greater satisfaction during the post partum period.

My background is in special education. I was a teacher for 8 years. When I became pregnant with my son I knew I wanted to stay home and raise him. What I didn't know was how I would become so passionate about all things birth related. I naturally began reading and researching everything I could. It was then that I learned how invaluable a postpartum doula could be. The struggles I had breastfeeding, and there were many, could have been eased by the help of a postpartum doula. New moms often feel stressed to maintain a clean home, homemade meals, and be a top notch hostess for the steam of visitors. Personally, I struggled with establishing my Breastfeeding relationship and I believe that it was partially due to so many visitors early on. As a new mom I slowly developed my parenting style which has come to include breastfeeding, babywearing, and cloth diapering. These are just a few parenting strategies that I have found to help me, but we here at Loving Birth Services support all kinda of parenting styles. As a post partum doula I am here to "mother the mother" and show support to the family. Postpartum services are so important and a great gift for a new mom. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the work I do!
