The Babied Family
This is part 3 of our series. Meet Jaimie, Donna, and Marston, owners of The Babied Family. I had the opportunity to meet them back in April at the LLL of the Garden State Conference. ~ Ginnie
How long have you owned your company?
This month will be 1 year. In fact we are celebrating our 1 year “anniversary” at the show we originally launched at, the La Leche League of South Eastern PA on October 19th.
Where is your company located/ what area do you serve?
We are located in Newark, DE and provide local concierge service for our products, as well as shipping anywhere in the US.
So tell us a little about your products and why they are a great choice for families? Our products range from breastfeeding supplies/support to organic skin care and on to our own line of healing salves. They are great because they are non toxic, eco friendly, and helpful for all members of the family from the new baby to grandma and grandpa.
What is one of your favorite parts of what you do? Knowing that our products really help people. Especially the new stuff that we are making ourselves. When I hear feedback that “it’s the only thing that worked” or “it soothed the pain/itch right away!” etc - that makes me feel better. Especially when it helps someone too young to understand the sensations, or who is medically fragile, and happy to find something that works well for them.
Any words of wisdom for an expectant parents or parents of small children? Trust yourself. Do your research, and then trust your instincts. There is a lot of “cover your a$$” style information out there (like the current bed sharing kerfluffle) but you need to do what is right for you and your family. Seek out help from the RIGHT people when you need it (i.e. lactation professionals for breastfeeding), keep an open mind and be willing to listen other points of view, and remember: When we know better, we do better. Just because we survived it 20 years ago, doesn’t mean it’s the best option now. Take the information with out judgement or insult, and do your best to do the best for your family.
