Spark of Amber

Ginnie & I are proud to own our own business. It has been a dream to us. Along our journey we have come across many other awesome women who are living out their dreams as well. This is a first of a series that will highlight a handful of these lovely ladies. Meet Julie, she is the owner of Spark of Amber. They specialize in calming baltic amber teething necklaces and jewelry for all.

How long have you owned your company?

Honestly, Spark of Amber is a young company. I started it in March of THIS year (2013), and it has grown in the first almost 4 months beyond what I ever imagined!

What is one of your favorite parts of what you do?

First, I really enjoy getting emails and notes from customers who love their Baltic Amber and have found it helpful for their pain or their child’s teething pain. Another thing I enjoy is getting new types/color of Baltic Amber into stock, and I thinking of new designs for products. For example, in the fall I want to start a fun kids/”tween” line with calming Baltic Amber and other gemstones.

So, tell us a little about amber and why it’s great?

Well, I think our amber is great because I really try hard to make sure we only sell the best Baltic Amber there is. We make sure our Baltic Amber is PROFESSIONALLY tested (I have professionally in caps because home tests are wildly unreliable, and most professional jewelers would agree!). Also, our amber has been helpful to so many people for pain relief and stress relief so far, which is encouraging. Another thing I love about our Amber is it is simply beautiful to wear—a great accessory to any outfit (even for children—it looks adorable).

What sets your company above the rest?

Not only are our products of wonderful quality, we have excellent pricing. One of my goals in founding Spark of Amber was to help make Baltic Amber jewelry affordable to everyone. ALL products from ship for free in the United States. Also, every item is packaged beautifully, suitable for gift-giving. Another unique fact about Spark of Amber is that we purchase most of our Baltic Amber from various small sellers (rather than large factories) in Lithuania, women who sell amber to support their own families.

What should mamas of small children know about safety concerning the necklaces?

All our products comply with US law/safety standards, and carry the typical small parts warning that is required by law. However, we add our own safety features. Our clasps are screw clasps, which fasten securely. Each necklace has very small beads (small enough that they would most likely not be a choking hazard if one came off). Also, the beads are knotted between each and every bead, so if one bead would break off, the rest would stay securely in place. We recommend normal safety guidelines such as always supervising your child when the necklace is being worn (just common sense things).
